Community Support and Dedication Shine at AVANCE-Dallas

AVANCE-Dallas was recently honored at the Annual Awards Celebration hosted by NAMI North Texas, a nonprofit dedicated to mental health advocacy and education. AVANCE-Dallas received the prestigious Marlon Shaw Community Support Award in recognition of their commitment to serving families and strengthening the community.

The team also celebrated the accomplishments of staff who recently graduated from Rosa es Rojo’s Health and Wellness Education Program for Hispanic Women and Their Families and HHM Health’s Pilot Training Program on Overdose Prevention and Mental Health Awareness. Graduates, including Noemi Patiño, Nancy Quirindongo, Angelica Toro, Gladys Urdaneta, Rosalinda Crescencio, and volunteer Arlette Soto, have demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing their skills to better support families.

Adding to these successes, AVANCE-Dallas launched the heartwarming “Angels of Wishes” initiative this year, fulfilling the wishes of four young mothers in the Parenteens Program, which supports pregnant and parenting teens. Each mother created a wish list reflecting her needs and dreams for herself and her baby. The AVANCE-Dallas team then worked together as “angels” to fulfill these wishes, providing essentials like baby clothing and personal care items.

Not only do these recent achievements highlight AVANCE-Dallas’s dedication to the families they serve, but also their commitment to fostering a healthier, more connected community.
